23.6x15.8 in ~ Painting, Oil
Jug with rushnyk is one of the works in the series of Ukrainian still lifes. This original composition depicts the beauty of everyday life of my people a hundred years ago. In those days, women made embroidery on rushnyks with their hands and created openwork lace with their crochets. Each piece was made of soft cotton and was one of a kind. They were used to cover crockery with warm and fresh food to keep it warm. Nowadays the way of life has changed, but Ukrainian embroidered towels are still sacred for our people.
